Protective Gear
(Read Ephesians 6:10-17)

“Brian, grab your catcher’s equipment, and I’ll help you practice
a little,” called Dad. Brian grabbed his gear and rushed out the door.
His little sister, Megan, was close behind him.
Brian stopped on the patio and put his chest protector, shin
guards, and face mask on. Then he grabbed his mitt.
Megan giggled. “You look so funny!” she said. “What
are you dressed like that for?”
“This stuff protects me when I’m catching the ball,” Brian explained.
“See how strong it is?” He hit the padded chest protector with his
fists before he ran out to the backyard.
Brian bent down and steadied himself on his feet in the
“catcher’s position.” Megan ran to the picnic bench and watched
Dad wind up and throw the ball forcefully to Brian. The ball bounced
off the catcher’s mitt, popped up, and struck the face mask hard.
Megan ran toward her brother. “Brian, are you hurt?” she asked.
“It’s OK ,” he said. “See, the mask stopped the ball from hurting me.”
For family devotions that evening, Dad read about the armor of God.
“Today, you both saw special equipment for our spiritual lives, too.
The armor of God protects us from Satan’s evil tricks,”
Megan’s eyes drew big. “We don’t have to be afraid of him?” she asked.
“That’s right, honey,” said Dad. “Just as Brian’s equipment protected
him from those hard-thrown balls, God’s armor protects us from the
tricks of the devil so that we can be strong Christians.” BMR

Memorize:
“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm
against all strategies and tricks of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

How about you?
Do you sometimes feel that you aren’t strong enough to fight Satan?
What types of things does do to trick us?
God provides his own armor to protect you; truth, goodness, readiness,
faith, salvation, and His Word.

Key: Put on God’s armor!
